Is Reddi Whip Keto Friendly?

Reddi-Wip is keto-friendly. It’s a dieter’s best friend, but it should be enjoyed in moderation for optimal health benefits, just like any other indulgence.

The recommended serving size of this canned whipped cream is two tablespoons which are the same as one golf ball!

If you’re on the ketogenic diet, you need to limit your carbohydrate intake to 20 grams or less per day.

So How Many Carbs Are In Reddi Whip?

Depending on the size of your can and whether it’s full fat, low fat, or fat-free, Reddi Whip will appear different.

Let’s take a closer look at the nutrition facts label:

  • Lemonade (1 tbsp): 5g
  • Chocolate (1 tbsp): 6g
  • Original (7 fl oz.): 33g

The above amounts are accurate for one serving which is 2 tablespoons.

Two tablespoons seem like a lot, so we figured out how many carbs are in one serving of Reddi Whip for the three most popular flavors.

All other flavors will have different carb counts, so check your nutrition facts label to see how much is in yours.

Total Net Carbs for Reddi Whip

Let’s do a little math to figure out the total net carbs for 2 tbsp of Reddi Whip. There are 5 grams of carbs in one serving.

You will use 2 tablespoons which equals 10 grams of carbohydrates per can. If you have 1/2 can, therefore, your net carbs will be 5 grams and so forth for each serving size.

Here is a quick breakdown:

One tbsp (5g) / 2 Tbsp (10g) = 0.50 g Net Carbs { Half Can } x 1 = 0.50g Total Net Carbs

Which Kind Of Reddi Whip Is Best For The Keto Diet?

There are 5 different kinds: Non-Dairy Almond Milk, Non-Dairy Coconut milk, Original, Fat-Free, and Extra Creamy

I know by reflex you will choose the almond milk or coconut milk ones but wait, you were wrong.

These heavy whipping creams require more sweetener than their original counterparts to taste as good, so they end up being higher in carbohydrates than other flavors like the Original, which only contains 2 grams of carbohydrate per serving size.

So the original version of Reddi Whip is the best choice for all of us.

What Are The Ingredients In The Whipped Cream?

Ingredients for Whipped Cream: Whole milk, cream, corn syrup solids, propylene glycol mono–the list goes on and on.

I have never heard of many ingredients before, such as sodium citrate and potassium sorbate, which make me wonder why they are added to this product.

Most brands contain less than 0.5 grams per tbsp for those with lactose intolerance but still might not be suitable for everyone.

Ways To Use Reddi Whip In Keto Meals

One of the best ways to use this product for a ketogenic diet is making desserts such as mousse with whipped cream.

Here are some ideas you can use to help you make delicious desserts with whipped cream:

Sugar-Free Chocolate Mousse: This is a recipe from that uses Is Reddi Whip as one of its key ingredients.

Reddi Spice Cake Roll: This cake combines a wonderful dessert recipe with Reddi whip, strawberries, and white chocolate sauce.

Reddi Whip Berry Cobbler: This cobbler is made with honey, berries, and whipped cream. You can top it with any fruit you like and enjoy a dessert with no guilt!

Keto Chocolate Mint Brownie Cups: These are an easy-to-make treat that everyone can enjoy as they have only 1 net carb per serving.

Making Your Own Keto Reddi Whip Recipes

  • 1.5 cups heavy cream (whipped)
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract or flavoring (to taste)
  • 2 tablespoons erythritol or another sweetener to your preference(to taste)
  • 1/3 cup sugar-free chocolate syrup.
  • Add any other flavorings you would like. (e.g., maple, cinnamon, peanut butter, etc.) -> (Optional)
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, sifted
  • 4 teaspoons powdered Swerve or equivalent stevia product
  • 1 teaspoon honey or apple sauce
  • 2 tsp unsweetened almond milk

  • Using a hand mixer on high speed, whip the heavy cream in a large bowl until it forms stiff peaks for about 5 minutes.
  • Add cocoa powder and blend for 30 seconds using a wire whisk until well blended.
  • In a small bowl, combine erythritol, honey, and almond milk; mix with a fork until well blended.
  • Add to the whipped cream mixture a little at a time, mixing high speed for 5 seconds after each addition.
  • Continue adding sweetener until desired sweetness is reached. (about 1-2 teaspoons)
  • Once you have added all of your ingredients, stir carefully with the wire whisk until it’s completely incorporated
  • Add vanilla extract or flavoring and chocolate syrup if using.

Note: When making any recipe substitutions, keep track of macros (calories & fat).

So when I made my keto Reddi Whip, I used Whipped Cream (fat 100 cal) instead of heavy cream(cal 50) and added 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder(cal) instead of 1/3 cup chocolate syrup.

The Best Way To Store Your Reddi Whip (In Fridge Or Freezer)

You want to store your whipped cream is in the refrigerator (in an airtight container). If you are not planning on eating it for a while, then freeze some of it.

Keep in a refrigerator

Reddi Whip can stay in the fridge for two weeks if kept properly. It should be stored away from any heat source and used by the “best before” date label.

Keep in a dry and cool place

If you do not intend to use your Reddi Whip within 2 weeks, keep it frozen as much as possible.

Then allow the cream to thaw overnight in the fridge one day before serving. To re-whip, simply place back into a mixer with a wire-whisk attachment (that’s what I do).

Unopened, Cans (Quart or Pint)

Reddi Whip product can be kept in an unopened container for up to 3 months. After three months, the quality may degrade slightly, and the flavor may be less sweet.

Once opened, cans can stay fresh

Once opened, use within 3 days. The whipped cream should stay fresh for about 2 weeks if you use it daily, but it is best to throw out any leftover creams if not used within this time frame.

The best before date label must also be obeyed after opening your dairy product as well as any other food products.

Are There Any Keto Whipped Cream Brands?

Yes, there are two brands that we have come across which you can use as your toppings on your desserts or coffee drinks.

I personally like the No Sugar Added Strawberry and Mint Chocolate Chip flavors by Aldi or Publix brand but feel free to check your local grocery store for keto-friendly Reddi Whip. You might be surprised!

Not sure if it’s on the ingredient label, but here is a link to their nutrition page where you can view the ingredients.

Are There Any Side Effects Of Reddi Whip?

There are no significant side effects of Is Reddi Whip, but if you suffer from lactose intolerance and want to prevent the bloating that comes with milk products, it is suggested that you avoid them completely.

Always check the label before purchasing. You may also find this product in low-carb or sugar-free versions, which will have fewer additives and may be easier for your body to digest.

Can I freeze my Whipped Cream?

Yes! Freezing cream will most likely thicken over time, so you may have to add a little more liquid(almond milk or heavy cream) when re-whip it, but I’ve done this before, and the results came out great.

When is your Whipped Cream Expired?

Reddi Whip can stay in an unopened container for up to 3 months after the manufacturing date. Once opened, use within 3 days for best taste and quality.

The best before date label must also be obeyed after the opening of your dairy product as well as any other food products.
