Sweating is a natural process of the body that helps cool us down. The keto diet can cause you to sweat more because your body’s fuel source has changed from glucose (carbohydrates) to fat and protein.

Your body is going to be adjusting to the keto diet in many ways. One of those things may include sweating more than you typically do. There are a few reasons this could happen, and we’ll go over them now!
The body stores around four times the amount of water on a carb-based diet per gram of carbohydrate. When you get into keto and stop eating carbs, this ratio changes to 1:4. The result is that someone might sweat or urinate more than normal while adjusting to keto.
With a regular diet, you don’t limit your carbohydrate intake. And according to some studies, one gram of carbohydrate that the body absorbs can store 4 grams of water.
The keto diet makes you eat fewer carbs. Therefore, in many ways, your body will remove stored water. Sweating is one of those ways.
Besides, the keto diet also helps you burn a large number of xenobiotics. And like a cycle, combustion produces energy, and energy has heat; heat makes you sweat.
How are ketones excreted in our breath?

This is because you have a higher level of ketones in the blood, which interferes with your body’s ability to cool itself by sweating.
The reason ketosis makes you sweat more is that when there are greater concentrations of ketones in your bloodstream, it will make it harder for your body to cool down, leading to sweating.
Another answer can be that ketosis causes more fatty acids to enter your sweat glands which will cause sweating too.
How to test if you are in ketosis?
My advice is not to make emotional conclusions about whether or not your body is in ketosis.
To test if you are in ketosis, check your urine for ketones with a simple at-home strip using a ketone strip test.
These products are available online and in your local pharmacies for around $1. If you’re serious about telling if you’re in ketosis or not, invest a couple of dollars and buy one now.
If you want to check your ketone levels seriously, I recommend using a different test. Using a blood-ketone meter is the most rigorous way to track your ketone levels & it is considered the gold standard in all keto research to check your ketosis status.

These symptoms will disappear as the body get used to ketosis. Even excessive sweating will subside over time. But, you also refer to the following ways to minimize sweating.

Tips 1 – Avoid spicy foods
Spicy foods may cause sweating or hyperhidrosis. Chili peppers are low in carbs, making them ideal for use in the keto diet. However, the truth is that you need to avoid chili peppers and spicy foods in general. The reason is that these foods will make you sweat a lot.
Our bodies react to spicy foods with sweat to release some of the heat that these foods create.
Avoiding spicy foods can help reduce sweating.
Tips 2 – Wear more comfortable clothing
Comfortable clothes with sweat-wicking materials don’t make you sweat less. However, suitable clothing will help keep you comfortable in ketosis.
People should wear light clothing made of fabric so their sweat can evaporate quickly.
Tips 3 – Reduce daily caffeine consumption
Coffee is one of the best daily drinks for most of us. However, in ketosis, caffeine can dehydrate us quickly and cause excessive amounts of sweat.
Cutting back on caffeine means you need to kick the habit of starting your day with a cup of coffee. However, in terms of caffeine’s diuretic properties, you should consider this trade-off.
You could try to replace coffee with green tea to reduce sweating on a keto diet.

Essentially, the keto diet allows you to increase the amount of fat in each meal by up to 80 percent and deeply reduce the number of carbs to nearly 50 grams per day.
